Disasters and Humanitarian Aid in 2010

Each year brings with it some crisis that calls for huge amounts of aid. This year, 2010, started with a devastating earthquake in Haiti. Governments, individuals and non-governmental organizations always respond to the need, but does aid always reach those who need it? Are there better ways to deliver humanitarian assistance?

Governments, individuals and non-governmental organizations always respond to the need, but does aid always reach those who need it? Are there better ways to deliver humanitarian assistance? Phillip Tamminga directs the Humanitarian Response Index for DARA, an international non-profit organization that evaluates how effectively aid is delivered to disaster, conflict and other crisis areas.
