California's Fire Season Is Now Year-Round

Hosted by

It took 5000 local, state and federal firefighters to handle ten major blazes last week in Southern California — and that's just the beginning. We're not prepared for an unusually long, hot season — let alone for the consequences of climate change. Should people who've chosen to build homes next to the fire-prone wilderness pay the cost of fire prevention, containment and lost life or property? Also, teachers and school reformers battle it out in a statewide election.

Will it enhance the host country or damage its reputation by revealing economic inequality and a misallocation of precious resources?
