Malibu Divided over Expanding Camping

Fire officials say the weekend blaze in Malibu was caused by human activity , although they still have not labeled it either intentional or accidental.  It does appear it began in a cave that’s often used for camp outs and late-night parties.

Fire officials say the weekend blaze in Malibu was caused by human activity, although they still have not labeled it either intentional or accidental. It does appear it began in a cave that’s often used for camp outs and late-night parties. In either case, the Malibu City Council is expected to vote next week on a proposal that would encourage more camping in the Santa Monica Mountains.
