LAPD to Pilot Racial Profiling Mediation Program

The LAPD gets thousands of complaints that officers have engaged in racial profiling. Former Chief Bill Bratton called it impossible to get into the brain of an officer to determine whether drivers or pedestrians were stopped and even arrested because of race, ethnicity or religious attire.

The LAPD gets thousands of complaints that officers have engaged in racial profiling. Former Chief Bill Bratton called it impossible to get into the brain of an officer to determine whether drivers or pedestrians were stopped and even arrested because of race, ethnicity or religious attire. But complaints continue, and now the Police Commission has approved current Chief Charlie Beck’s proposal for mediation.
