Major Setback for Medical Marijuana

Medical marijuana was legalized by California voters in 1996. Under a doctor’s prescription, Gary Ross used it to treat the pain of a back injury he suffered while in the Air Force. He says he told his Sacramento employer--a telecommunications firm called RagingWire--but when a drug test came back positive, he was fired. Today, the State Supreme Court ruled in favor of the company.
