State Universities Struggle with Short Money

Hosted by
As we celebrate California's king-of-the-world status for Nobel Prize winners, there is word that the Nobel winners of the near future are heading away from the University of California's ten campuses. Meanwhile, students at the 23 California State campuses find themselves caught in the crossfire between teachers and administrators as the governor calls for a 15 percent across-the-board budget cut. We study changing hiring, enrollment and budgetary trends, as well as the state budget crisis, with administrators, faculty and students from the Cal State and University of California systems. (Managing Editor Kyle McKinnon guest hosts.)
