Austin Beutner came out of high finance, served as 1st Deputy Mayor to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and explored the possibility of buying the Los Angeles Times. Instead, he became the paper’s 14th publisher last August, and today saw the first public evidence of his presence: renewal of the California section, which replaces the LATExtra.
