Very Few Voters Make Lots of Big Decisions
Yesterday’s Republican tide did not sweep into California — although the Democrats’ supermajority in Sacramento has come to an end. We look at the election results.

In Los Angeles County, just 25% of those eligible bothered to vote — less that half what it was four years ago. The Republican tide did not sweep into California — although the Democrats’ supermajority in Sacramento has come to an end. What will that mean for tax increases? In a battle of Big Money, the teachers’ unions defeated education reformers. Labor got another friend on LA County’s Board of Supervisors. And the state that invented “three strikes and you’re out” approved a measure that could mean 40,000 fewer inmates in California prisons every year. We look at the election results.
