    Will California Voters Get Rid of Rent Control?

    There are just two ballot measure on California's June 3 ballot—Propositions 98 and 99, which both limit the government's right to seize private property under "eminent domain." One of them would also phase out rent control. Also, we talk with the new Speaker of the State Assembly.

But Prop 98 would also phase out rent control, which could effect up to a million people. Also, we talk with the new Speaker of the State Assembly, an African American woman who says, "California is a giant in crisis."

      Apartment, house and mobile-home owners are among the supporters of Proposition 98 on the June 3 ballot. It would limit government's right to seize private property but would also phase out rent control in 100 cities, including Los Angeles, Santa Monica and West Hollywood.
