For the last couple of years, we've seen an organized push at the city and state levels in California to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, and many communities have taken steps to do just that. But in this edition of Zócalo’s Connecting California, columnist Joe Mathews says he’s hearing buzz about an even larger-scale idea — a move to implement something called a minimum or universal basic income. He says it's an idea whose roots go back a long way.
