What is Legacy Giving?
Legacy giving (also known as planned giving) is an opportunity to leave money or assets to KCRW in your estate plans. There are several pathways to legacy giving, many of which are easy to establish, and some can even benefit you financially in your lifetime. Making a legacy gift to KCRW, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is a simple way to ensure a thriving future for KCRW and public radio.

KCRW depends on financial support from individuals at all levels. To secure KCRW far into the future, we also rely on meaningful gifts from our long-time friends who want to make KCRW a part of their legacy. By including KCRW in your future plans, you’re not just making a gift — you’re making history. Your gift ensures that everything you love about KCRW continues to thrive, long after today’s playlist ends. Always free, never behind a paywall. Not only will you be keeping KCRW strong for the next generation and beyond, there are also great benefits to this type of giving:
Tax deductions
Avoiding capital gains
Maximizing charitable contributions
Receiving income for yourself and/or your loved ones
Passing assets to family at a reduced tax cost
Membership in KCRW’s Sonic Society which includes invites to exclusive KCRW events and updates about the impact of your support
How?
Planned giving looks different for everyone, but here are a few common options:
You can name KCRW in your will or trust with wording such as: “I hereby give to KCRW, a-not-for-profit organization with offices at 1900 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90405, the sum of $_________; or ______% of the residue of my estate.” (Be sure to include KCRW’s tax ID: #95-3750631)
You can name KCRW as an IRA or retirement plan beneficiary, or as a life insurance beneficiary.
You can set up a charitable gift annuity — transfer assets that will be used in part by KCRW in the future, and in the meantime, you will receive income payments.
Create a financial account for KCRW.
