Sexual Assault in the Military The U.S. Senate voted yesterday to offer more protections to soldiers who say they were sexually assaulted in the military. But the vote was seen as a big defeat by victims rights advocates. They were supporting a much stronger bill, put forward by Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, which failed by five votes.
