Born Barclay Crenshaw, Claude VonStroke emerged from San Francisco’s electronic scene in the mid-2000s, founding Dirtybird Records in 2005. With tracks like Deep Throat and Who’s Afraid of Detroit?, he became a defining figure in American house music. His Dirtybird label nurtured a community of artists pushing playful, bass-heavy house, while his own DJ sets became festival favorites for their fun, inclusive energy. In addition to his Claude VonStroke persona, he also releases under his real name, exploring hip-hop and bass music. A tastemaker, mentor, and headliner, he has helped shape the sound of modern U.S. house.
