IMDB Founder Col Needham is a self-professed movie geek. From an early age he would watch films multiple times and keep a detailed log of what he seen and related information. That pen and paper document morphed into a computer list which was the antecedent to the Internet Movie Database . IMDb is an industry tool as well as a fan site. And in recent years it's generated some controversy. Last year an actress sued it for abetting ageism in the industry. Others have complained that it doesn't maintain accurate information. Despite this, nearly everyone relies heavily on IMDB.
