NBA Bans Donald Sterling for Life, Calls for Sale of Team The National Basketball Association has thrown Donald Sterling out of the game – for life. NBA commissioner Adam Silver has given Sterling the league's harshest penalty and highest fine for racist comments he made in a recorded conversation. At today's press conference, Silver said the league has confirmed that the voice on the recording is, indeed, Sterling. He called Sterling's views "deeply offensive and harmful; that they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage." In addition to the life-time ban, Silver imposed a $2.5 million ban, the maximum allowed under the NBA constitution.
