Originating from Hertfordshire, England, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory formed Maribou State in the early 2010s. Their breakthrough album Portraits (2015) introduced their warm, organic sound that fuses electronic beats with live instrumentation. The follow-up Kingdoms in Colour (2018) expanded their global reach, featuring collaborations with artists like Khruangbin. Known for crafting expansive live performances that incorporate guitar, bass, and keys, Maribou State has become a festival staple. Their music bridges electronic production with soulful, human elements, drawing influence from trip-hop, house, and world music.
