Police academy gets a makeover Where might you find the safest café in all of LA? How about the one at the Los Angeles Policy Academy in Elysian Park? The public cafe and restaurant at the LAPD's training school is part of an ongoing remodel of an old LA institution that has been freshened up for a new age in policing. DnA producer Avishay Artsy took a tour last month and learned about a building handmade by officers and haunted by a ghost, as well as an education that teaches police how to shoot as well as when not to shoot.
