Waxahatchee is the stage name of Alabama-born musician Katie Crutchfield, who began the project in 2010 after playing in various punk and indie groups. Her early lo-fi recordings, including American Weekend (2012), quickly garnered attention for their raw honesty. She followed with a string of critically acclaimed albums, with Saint Cloud (2020) marking a turning point toward Americana and folk-influenced songwriting, praised for its vulnerability and maturity.

In 2024, Waxahatchee released Tigers Blood, further cementing Crutchfield’s reputation as one of the most important voices in contemporary indie and folk music. Known for her deeply personal lyricism and commanding live performances, she has become a staple of the modern indie-folk scene.
