The season's first event organized by the LACMA Institute for Art and Cultures is not to be missed. A screening of Kenny Scharf's first cartoon is followed by a discussion with the artist conducted by Bob Sain, director of LACMA Lab. A decade ago, Kenny Scharf was a very hot artist whose name made people either cringe or green with envy. He explores the fuzzy boundaries between art, commerce and entertainment.

For my money, this is probably the best dramatic theater in the United States which made an indelible impression on LA audiences during their extremely rare tour of Southern California more than a decade ago. The remarkable film actor Willem Dafoe is among the cast. Based on Racine's "Phedre," which was inspired by the Greek tragedy by Euripedes. A queen's forbidden love for her stepson brings down the kingdom.
