    The Black Monks of Mississippi

    Theaster Gates asked, what is the sound of a Black Buddhist temple? Inspired during an artistic residency in Japan, Gates fused together the richness of meditation with the sounds of soul, and created The Black Monks of Mississipi, which will perform at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCAon November 13. They will perform in conjunction with the exhibit "Theaster Gates: An Epitaph for Civil Rights."
