Three design events taking place in Los Angeles this week that DnA recommends you attend.

1. Global Citizen: The Architecture of Moshe Safdie at the Skirball

October 22, 2013–March 2, 2014

Journey through a three-dimensional landscape of striking architecture in this career-spanning exhibition of Moshe Safdie’s work. Global Citizen: The Architecture of Moshe Safdie surveys the renowned architect’s career from his formative period in the 1960s and early 1970s to his recent projects around the world, exploring his aesthetic language of transcendent light, powerful geometry, and iconic forms. Using sketches, models, photographs, and films of twenty-five projects, the exhibition portrays Safdie’s architecture not only as visual art but as a medium for advancing social, political, and cultural goals.

For more info, visit the Skirball’s website; and listen to this report by KCRW’s Avishay Artsy.

3. IDEO’s Tom and David Kelley in conversation with Frances Anderton

DnA’s Frances Anderton will host a discussion with brothers Tom and David Kelley, about their new book “Creative Confidence.” Kelley founded the famed design consultancy IDEO as well as Stanford’s d.school at Stanford, the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, where he promotes a “human-centered, team-based approach to tackling sticky problems” through design. Tom Kelley is a partner at IDEO and author of The Art of Innovation and The Ten Faces of Innovation. The two will discuss the challenge that lead to them co-writing Creative Confidence, tricks for tapping into the creativity latent within us all, as well as what differentiates their approach from all the other guides to creativity and innovation.

Creative Confidence book signing and reception will follow

Wed, October 23rd 7:15pm
