    Here’s what DnA recommends you check out this week in Los Angeles.

    1. UCLA A.UD presents HYPERLOOP: TRANSFORMING TRANSPORTATION

    UCLA’s school of Architecture and Urban Design is launching the first of its lectures this Wednesday in the series IDEAS: Collaborative Design for Innovation. Wednesday’s lecture topic is the Hyperloop and Patricia Galloway, Co-Director, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, and Marco Villa, Co-Director, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies will speak.

    When: Wednesday January 15, reception begins at 6:45 PM, program begins at 7:30 PM

    Where: Hercules Campus 5865 S. Campus Center Drive, Los Angeles

    Tickets: Free and open to the public

    2. Deborah Sussman Loves Los Angeles

    This is the final week to see the exhibit that honors the work of one of L.A.’s most prolific and influential designers. The show, funded by a successful kickstarter campaign, features Deborah Sussman’s work from 1953 to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

    When: Exhibition runs from December 12, 2013 to January 19, 2014

    Where: WUHO Gallery; 6518 Hollywood Boulevard Hollywood, CA 90028

    Tickets: Free and open to the public.

    3. L.A. Art Show and Photo LA Join Forces in 2014 for Art Weekend LA in Downtown

    L.A. hosts a seemingly endless number of art and photo fairs each year. But this year the L.A. Art Show and Photo LA have chosen to open in the same week, and in the same place– downtown, drawing in other events that are all being marketed under the umbrella of “art weekend LA.” There will be a free shuttle service to transport guests between the L.A. Art Show, Photo LA, Jewelry and Antique Show and other art events over the weekend. The fairs will have a mix of vendors from L.A. and overseas, see full list here.

    L.A. photographer Jay Mark Johnson, whose photo graces Photo LA’s flyer below will be among artists who are featured in both shows.

    L.A. Art Show

    The 19th annual L.A. Art Show kicks off this year and will feature contemporary, modern, historic and traditional fine artwork from over 100 galleries. Click here for more information.

    Photo LA

    Photo LA is in its 23rd year and will host the work of over 90 galleries in addition to a series of lectures, roundtables, and docent tours. Click here for more information.
