The Century Plaza Hotel in Century City has been saved from the wrecking ball, it was reported today. This is fantastic news for anyone who regards the 1966 crescent-shaped hotel (shown, left in photo by Andrew Hara) by architect Minoru Yamasaki (also designer of the World Trade Center) as a classic of both LA’s postwar Modern architecture and its Mad Men-era life and culture.
