Last week DnA’s Frances Anderton ran into a Hancock Park homeowner who bemoaned the fact he has to get rid of his lawn, asking what could take its place and preserve the loveliness of his Cape Cod-style house.
I assured him there are so many wonderful options, and that in fact, this is an opportunity for him to get creative, and create a personal statement with his front yard — as you have all done.

Keep on sending us your designs. And check out these gardens that were recently featured on Mar Vista’s Green Garden Showcase, a neighborhood where as many as one in every four homes has a drought resistant landscape.
