Did Carmen Miranda leave her hat on this chair? This 1940s piece by Mexican designer Arturo Pani is one of many items in the broad-ranging LA Modernism show, taking place this weekend at the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport. This piece is being sold, without the fruit, by the LA and New York dealer, Downtown; the 60-plus other exhibitors include Robert Berman Gallery and Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA), in advance of their upcoming May 23 auction. The LA Modernism show is open Saturday and Sunday.
