X-Men: Apocalypse

Enormous going on keep going on, and on, in X-Men: Apocalypse. It's a collection of explosions, eruptions and conflagrations that looks like the implosion of a franchise. This is disappointing, but also surprising.

The X-Men franchise has had its downs and ups since the first installment hit the multiplexes in 2000, so it's too soon to write the enterprise off... Still, this episode is going to drive a deep wedge between the hardcore fans and less-invested movie-goers who expect a superhero sage to offer something more than incessant talk about power and recycled images of global destruction that don't convey the slightest trace of feeling.
