College Board considers a student's hardships on the SAT

Statistics have shown that kids from wealthy families generally score much higher on standardized tests than kids from poorer families. Now the College Board -- the company that creates the SAT -- is trying to address this bias in its test.

Using an “adversity score,” it places a student’s SAT score in the context of that student’s environment, using data like the neighborhood’s crime rate and the number of high school grads who go on to college. The College Board says it has been testing the new scoring system with 50 colleges and will be rolling it out to others this year and next. We ask local high school seniors how they feel about the change.
