How to become a more civically engaged Angeleno

One civically engaged designer in Los Angeles, Lex Roman, has created a guide for local voters to find out where to vote and how government works. It also addresses questions that people might be too self-conscious to ask aloud.

“I think people feel helpless, like they can’t do anything about what’s going on in their neighborhood or their city or their world at large. And I really want to convey to folks that even if you don’t have a lot of time, there are things that you can do to just make sure that your representatives are representing your values, and that the city and your neighborhood are becoming the place you want to raise your kids,” says Roman.

Roman’s newsletter is called LA Pays Attention. In it, she distills information from several sources, including some of her favorites:

    • Neighborhood Info

    • LA 101 from LA Forward

    • Michael Kohlhaas Dot Org

    • Unrig LA

    • Scott Frazier
