Scared, but not surprised after synagogue shooting

On Saturday, a gunman walked into a synagogue in San Diego County, on the last day of Passover, and opened fire killing one person and injuring three others, including the rabbi.

Not far from San Diego, at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Director of Education Jordanna Gessler said she wasn’t surprised.

“I think the Jewish community, as with other communities, is very community based. You know, having a shooting take place that happened in San Diego… that's almost in Los Angeles. And you know it's very upsetting especially when we as a community sometimes think that California is a liberal place an open place. I think it challenges us to scratch the surface a little bit and stop thinking about things that happened over there and in other parts of the world and really take a hard look at what's going on where we are.”
