GOP Debate Breaks Ratings Records for CNN

Though there were other contenders involved as well, Donald Trump was no doubt the draw that has almost 23 million people tuning into CNN last night.

CNN didn't quite match the ratings from the GOP debate on Fox in August, but it came awfully close. Almost 23 million viewers watched Donald Trump and other GOP contenders debate on CNN. This smashes CNN's previous ratings record, a 1993 Larry King Live special with Al Gore and Ross Perot that averaged 16.8 million viewers. Donald Trump continues to show media dominance, long past what many thought would be his expiration date. The first Democratic debate will be in October, featuring Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and other candidates. Their numbers are expected to be much lower.
