Donald Trump's pick for Treasury Secretary is Steven Mnuchin, a Hollywood money man who has invested huge sums of money in movies in the past decade. He pioneered the concept of slate financing at a particular studio, starting with a deal he had at Fox where he was involved with films like X-Men and Avatar. When that deal ended, he moved on to Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media. Kavanaugh later blamed Mnuchin for his company's bankruptcy after Mnuchin's OneWest Bank withdrew funds from the company. Currently Mnuchin is based at Warner Bros, where he's had success with movies like Gravity, but also suffered big flops with projects like Pan and Jupiter Ascending.
