    Joe Frank: Return Engagement

    Prayer

A prostitute's dream of spiritual longing, the nature of God, Dial-a-Prayers from around the country, and other stories of religious faith and the betrayal of believers.

Joe hires a prostitute. They engage in a tawdry encounter, after which we listen to her dream, which reveals her spiritual longing. Joe attends the funeral of his Uncle Murray. Murray receives a grandiose eulogy, while Joe remembers the real, flawed man. Joe considers the whereabouts and nature of God and questions His compassion and care. A self-proclaimed minister offers to bring back the dead to a frightened woman on the phone. Later, he prays with another man before requiring him to repeat absurd declarations of love. We hear Dial-a-Prayers from pastors around the country. A woman describes her rare, moving experience of bliss.
