The US Senate changed a procedural rule this week that would allow a majority vote on judicial and executive appointees, other than the Supreme Court. In 2005, then Senator in the minority said, "This nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power. It is a fundamental power grab by the majority party." That was then-Senator Joe Biden. Is this change an improvement? Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is campaigning to unseat incumbent Mike Enzi in the Wyoming Senate Republican primary. She's declared her opposition to gay marriage, despite her sister's recent marriage to her long-time partner. Politico.com has called it the Race that Broke the Cheney Family. Fifty years ago shots rang out in Dallas. A disaffected, enraged, Marxist radical had gunned down President John F. Kennedy. How would the world have been different had he been unsuccessful? Joining Robert Scheer are Mike Pesca (NPR) moderating from the Center, and Rich Lowry (National Review on the Right.
