Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton laid out their economic agendas this week. Rich Lowry, of the conservative magazine National Review, found Trump's speech to to be "utterly conventional" and Clinton's to be "more of the same tweaked in a Bernie Sander's direction." Then Trump said that "Second Amendment people" could stop Hillary from appointing Supreme Court justices. He later said he was being sarcastic. "I have a darker interpretation," said Gene Sperling, director of the National Economic Council under Presidents Clinton and Obama and advises candidate Clinton on economic matters. He said that Trump gets asked a question, does a long wink to the worst instincts in our country to racism or violence, let's it hang out there for a while and then pulls it back. "He is communicating to people's worst instincts, not their best instincts." The Baltimore police department was the subject of a scathing report on gender and racial bias from the Department of Justice.

Josh Barro (Business Insider) moderates from the Center. Rich Lowry (National Review) is on the Right. On the Left, is Gene Sperling (Economic advisor to Presidents Clinton & Obama and candidate Hillary Clinton). Keli Goff (Daily Beast, host of WNYC's series, Political Party with Keli Goff) is our special guest.
