Getting a Read on the Supremes

The US Supreme Court heard 3 days of arguments over the Affordable Care Act. Is this the end of the mandate? Our system of social insurance? What of judicial deference?

The US Supreme Court held three days of arguments to consider the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) -- mulling the Commerce Clause, the individual mandate, cost controls and severability. Observers think the conservatives on the court signaled clearly their desire to overturn all of the law. Are we over-interpreting what we heard? What might be the consequences of the decision, politically and judicially? Is keeping the individual mandate a slippery slope to mandated broccoli buying? Is nixing the mandate a slippery slope toward ending the social safety net largely put in place in the 1930's and 1940's? Also, a look at the relative radical-ness of the Ryan budget plan, and what it portends for summer's heated politics, and thoughts on the Trayvon Martin case. (David Frum joins us as a guest panelist.)
