Oregon Standoff, Obama on Guns and Immigration

President Obama says he's a single-issue voter for gun control.

The standoff in Oregon continues. Is it "domestic terrorism" or a group of "jokers?" Would the government have reacted differently if the people were a different race? Juliette Kayyem says they are domestic terrorists and should be confined and then offered carrots and sticks. Rich Lowry says they are jokers and will slink away in time. "These guys are doing interviews. If you don't raid them no one is going to get shot." President Obama wrote an op-ed in the New York Times and says he's a single-issue gun control voter. Will this change the dynamic of the gun control debate? Rich Lowry says Obama's proposals are "extremely small beer." Josh Barro asks if gun control advocates should be suggesting far more aggressive changes like handgun bans. Juliette Kayyem says as a counterterrorism expert she wants to tell people who oppose gun control that they are "in Loonyland." "My kids are more likely to die from gun violence than anything from ISIS." In Germany, authorities blame asylum seekers for New Years Eve attacks on women. Is there a cultural gap that can be fixed? Jill Filipovic says statutes of limitations for rape charges should be lifted.

Josh Barro (New York Times) moderates from the Center. Rich Lowry (National Review) is on the Right. On the Left is Jill Filipovic (journalist, lawyer). Juliette Kayyem (former Assistant Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security) is our special guest.
