Manafort sentenced...and then indicted

And minutes later, he’s indicted — this time, by the state of New York.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, adding another three and a half years to his prison sentence. Then, minutes later, Manafort was indicted on new charges, but this time, they’re not federal charges. They’re state charges from Manhattan’s district attorney. Looks like we’re not done talking about Paul Manafort yet.

The grandaddy of the lawsuits that launched this show is over. Remember the lawsuit over the hush agreement with Stormy Daniels suing to get a declaration that she could not be barred from talking about the affair she says she had with the president? Well, her claims against the president and Michael Cohen have been dismissed for mootness. Michael Avenatti says it’s a victory, but, uh, he’s not really right. And by the way, is Michael Avenatti a good...bankruptcy lawyer?

Plus: the conspiracy theorists are suing each other for defamation, which is interesting. And, when Michael Cohen says he “never” sought a pardon, what does “never” mean? Is it defamation to call a conspiracy theorist dishonest when, well, that person is a conspiracy theorist?
