    In Hollywood, each piece of entertainment – each television series, each television episode, each feature film or piece of recorded music – contains dozens or so ancillary contracts and understandings, and for each of those dozens of mini agreements there is a separate and often fraudulent piece of financial accounting that goes with it. Which is why we have so many lawyers, and why they all drive nice cars. Everything that happens here is a lawsuit about to happen. Or, at the very least, an exchange of expensive and nasty-toned letters between lawyers who can probably see into each others’ offices from one Century City building to another...
