In the television business, you have months and months to write a pilot episode of a series. And then, if you're successful, you have a few months to produce the episodes. Which is luxurious, really: it means weeks and weeks of casting, rewriting, eight days of rehearsal and fixes, usually twice the typical amount of money to spend, and when it's all over you end up with one episode...
