Three Things

I once knew someone who had two ways to say the word "because." She was from New York, so she would pronounce it one way – Because – at some times, and another way – B-cuzzzzz – at other times, and I spent a few years being baffled by this until I started to listen more closely. I mean, I'm not from New York, so I usually pronounce the word Because this way: Because. But she'd say something like, "Look, before we go into the network I want you to meet a director, because he's got a major deal over there and it can really help the project..."
