    Sep 11, 2024

Taking our cue from Questlove who astutely pinpointed the late Frankie Beverly’s sound as “yacht soul,” today’s tribute to the esteemed artist is an educational journey. From an epic ode to his adopted home of California, to his stone-cold classic “Joy And Pain,” to his Northern Soul roots with The Butlers, to his Raw Soul days — we’ve got just the sounds you need to celebrate Beverly’s life and career. Plus, we’re spinning some essential cumbia jams to accelerate your anticipation for Noche de Cumbia on Sunday, Sept. 22. at The Hollywood Bowl (it’s the grand finale of KCRW Festival ‘24).
