Austrian DJ/production duo Kruder & Dorfmeister are pioneers when it comes to indulging electronic music’s chiller impulses. Since their early ‘90s origins, they’ve gravitated to downtempo melodics and Boom Bap beats. They’re also a major staple of KCRW playlists spanning years and departments. Dig The Treatment’s theme song? That’s “Chocolate Elvis” by Tosca, a Richard Dorfmeister side project from the K&D extended universe.

More: Tosca Live on Morning Becomes Eclectic (2014)

Now celebrating 30 years together as a musical team, Kruder & Dorfmeister commandeer the decks at KCRW HQ to deliver a top secret mix of highlights from their illustrious career. The duo also dish with Novena and Anthony about nearly getting stuck in Black Rock City following the torrential downpours they experienced during their first trip to Burning Man. Plus, they share how early techno inspired their genre-departing sounds, and the secret to their lasting partnership: “Money.” Just kidding, it’s their unbridled enthusiasm for music discovery that keeps the tunes and the DJ sets flowing.

Catch them in the mix via today’s MBE, and venture out the The Fonda Theater on Thursday, Sept. 7 for An Evening With Kruder & Dorfmeister. Feel their energy live in the room, and revel in the accompanying A/V show while you’re at it.
