Last week during Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido's annual State of the City address, onlookers were shocked to see him sit in the same table as Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackaukus. The DA's office has said it's investigating allegations that Pulido broke conflict-of-interest law via a land-swap deal, and critics say the chuminess between Rackaukus and Pulido means the DA isn't serious about investigating political corruption in the county. It's a charge that has hounded the DA during his tenure, as it's taken the feds to prosecute nearly all the politicians convicted of breaking the law since 1999, including former Sheriff Mike Carona. With the feds convening a task force last year to investigate OC political corruption, is Rackaukus just gun-shy or is something else going on?
