Irvine's Eternal Lukewarm War

Last week, the Irvine City Council voted to rescind the city's living-wage ordinance, which required some city contractors to pay its workers more than the state's minimum wage. Current council member Jeff Lalloway argued that city voters wanted more conservative policies in voting to strike down the law, which was passed in 2007 by a Democratic-majority city council. It's that same rationale that supporters of longtime city boss Larry Agran argue is behind the current council's investigation into the Great Park. Of course, Agran's allies were accused of targeting previous Republican councils with his their policy measures, too. Will Irvine ever see political peace?
