John Moorlach's Nine Lives

Yesterday, John Moorlach was sworn in as the state senator for the 37th District, which covers large portions of central and South Orange County. He won a special election outright despite being heavily outspent by his competitor and earning few endorsements. But bucking conventional wisdom is old hat for Moorlach, who previous served as county supervisor and treasurer. He's most famous for predicting the 1994 Orange County bankruptcy at a time when everyone called him crazy. His principled conservative ways are a callback to old politics, but how effective will they be in Sacramento?
