OC Cities Declare War on AirBnB

Residents and politicians are fighting against short-term rentals.

Last week, the Anaheim and Santa Ana City Councils declared a temporary moratorium on any short-term rentals in their respective cities. This followed in the steps of other Orange County cities such as Fountain Valley and Laguna Beach either mulling over or passing such measures this year. Apps such as AirBnB had previously exploded in popularity in OC for tourists. But in a county that has long supported the free market, such business is also running into another Orange County vein: NIMBYism. Which side will ultimately win?
