OC Finally Gets a Year-Round Homeless Shelter

Last week, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to buy a warehouse in an industrial area Santa Ana and turn it into a year-round homeless shelter. It was a move that spent years in controversy and pleased few, from homeless advocates who pointed out that the location is far from the large homeless population near the city's Civic Center to neighborhood residents who don't want the shelter near their homes to politicians who say the move is just a band-aid on a countywide problem that's still increasing. Will the supes' purchase of the warehouse help OC's homeless community—or will the status quo remain?
