OC's Bankruptcy, 20 Years Later

How one of America's biggest municipal bankruptcies changed the OC political landscape,

Twenty years ago last week, Orange County's Board of Supervisors shocked the world when they declared that the county needed to file bankruptcy, at the time the largest municipal bankruptcy in US history. It ended the careers of many politicians and signaled the end of the supes' power in OC, coming at a time where cities were incorporating and eroding their reach. What lessons can Orange County continue to learn from this fiasco — and what lessons can OC teach the rest of America?
