This past weekend, the annual Tet Parade was held in Little Saigon, in honor of Vietnamese New Year. Left out were LGBT Vietnamese, banned by organizers from marching.
This past weekend, the annual Tet parade happened in Little Saigon, in honor of the Vietnamese New Year. On the sidelines were LGBT Vietnamese who made national news because organizers banned them from marching, citing "tradition." It's the latest skirmish in a continuing battle between the elders and new generation in the nation's largest Vietnamese community, but how long can these gatekeepers keep modernity away?
