    The Latino Nonprofit OC Politicians Love to Hate

    This past weekend, Latino Health Access opened a community center and park in downtown Santa Ana, the first significant piece of parkland in the city's inner core in decades. The nonprofit has earned national coverage and awards for its pioneering efforts training Latino immigrants to teach healthy living practices to their neighbors — but locally, Santa Ana officials put roadblocks on their park plans. Meanwhile, the OC Board of Supervisors continuously threatens to cut their funding. What is it about this nonprofit that scares OC politicians so?
